| Hydrography for Coastal Zone Management Adelaide Metropolitan Beaches - Coastal Surveys HydroSurvey Australia has been responsible for undertaking recurrent soundings along the coastline of South Australia (up to 3km offshore) with the data provided used to model and monitor sand movement along the coastline over time. This on-going project has resulted in the survey of the complete South Australian Metropolitan coastline from Marino to Outer Harbor twice in consecutive years 1990 - 1991, with subsequent recurrent surveys conducted over sections of coastline at Christies Beach, Brighton, Glenelg to West Beach and Tennyson to Outer Harbor. Adelaide Metropolitan Beach - ProfilesHydroSurvey Australia has been responsible for conducting soundings and levelling selected profile lines over beaches throughout South Australia to monitor erosion rates. This has culminated in the recent sounding of 70 special profile lines, some as long as 5km, from Outer Harbor to Sellicks Beach. A feature of this job is the high density of soundings (approx every 30cm) along each profile line. Marina DevelopmentsHydroSurvey Australia has been involved in various marina developments in South Australia including Lincoln Cove, North Haven, Copper Cove, Ceduna Keys and Cape Jaffa in the south-east of SA. These have involved conducting pre, progress and post dredge soundings to calculate volumes for cost estimates, and record actual dredged volumes for payments. Supporting the Australian Defence ForceHydroSurvey Australia has conducted various project works on behalf of the Australian Defence Force and the Australian Submarine Corporation, including providing sub-metre guidance and position fixing for scientific instruments and ship tracking, as well as supporting sea trials and shock trial moorings. We have also been involved in the design of the new Air Warfare Destroyer berth and ship lift site at Osborne as part of the TechPort Australia project. Ship TrackingTo assist the South Australian port operator in determining whether there existed a need to adjust, deepen or widen the channels to enable the passage of larger vessels, HydroSurvey Australia tracked and plotted the bow and stern positions of various large vessels as they proceeded up the Port Adelaide and Port Pirie shipping channels. Mapping Sunken VesselsHydroSurvey Australia undertook a survey of the sunken warship HMAS Hobart - now a popular diving site - which was laid to rest off Wirrina Cove, South Australia in 2002. Using Geoswath to provide positioning information, the captured data was later imported into Terramodel and converted to a digital terrain model displaying the submerged vessel sitting upright on the seabed. | |||
